There are numerous Nafl prayers that one can recite on different occasions. It is believed that performing prayers bring worshippers face to face with Allah. Apart from performing prayers, Muslims can also worship Allah by reciting Dua or Tasbih a form of remembrance of Allah. Muslims can perform prayers wherever they want.
However, it is preferable if they pray in the mosque with a congregation of other Muslims. Adhan was designed to draw worshippers together and remind them when it is time to pray.
Tahiyyat al-Masjid is an independent voluntary prayer comprising two rakahs. It is performed by anyone who is entering a mosque. Nafl prayers should not be performed during the times forbidden for prayers. For instance, they should not be offered between Salat al-Asr and Salat al-Maghrib. Also, it is preferable to perform voluntary prayers at home instead of in a mosque, with an exception of those prayers which have been specifically prescribed to be offered in a mosque.
My words find inspiration in the most mundane of the things — beads of a rosary, a rehal by the window, rings of incense smoke, and fallen tree leaves. Know more. August 3, In Islam, praying is considered the supreme act of worship and the ultimate way of demonstrating servitude to Allah. Fard, or the Obligatory Prayers in Islam According to all the Sunni schools, Fard or obligatory prayers are compulsory for every Muslim. The five obligatory prayers include: a Salat al-Fajr: Also known as the morning prayer, Salat al-Fajr consists of four rakahs units including two obligatory rakahs and two Sunnah rakahs.
Wajib Prayers, required or obligatory in a situation Wajib prayers are also obligatory and it is considered sinful to miss them. Wajib prayers are as follows: a Salat al-Witr: Consisting of three rakahs, this prayer is performed every day after the night prayer. Nafl or Voluntary Prayers in Islam Nafl or voluntary prayers are performed for extra virtue, however, missing out on them is not considered sinful.
There is a wide range of Nafl prayers, including: a Salat at-Tahajjud: Also known as late night prayer, Salat at-Tahajjud is performed in the middle of the night and is considered the most rewarding of all Nafl prayers. My concern it, they make the prayer longer, somewhat difficult if they are made compulsory. What are its sources that make it compulsory? Should they be observed or not?
Sunni view is welcomed and any there if there is? The minimum obligatory prayers are called "farz" or fard. They are 2 rakats for fajr, 4 for zuhr, 4 for asr, 3 for maghrib and 4 for isha prayer. If you say these prayers, then you have completed your duty w. All the other prayers are different categories of "nafl". These are 2 for fajr, 4 for zuhr, 4 for asr, 2 for maghrib and 4 for isha.
Those that he neither performed nor told someone to do so are called "Nafl". All these nafl prayers, can be a mean to take you to a higher level of Iman. The obligatory prayers are only those that are known as "farz". That is why they are called "farz". Its is recommended that these nafl prayers are performed in solitude. To use a metaphor, fard is kind of like homework in school whereas sunnah and nafl are more like extra credit. Not performing sunnah won't prevent you from "graduating" i.
The importance of a sunnah is that it is the tradition of the prophet, and if you follow both the sunnah and the fard then jannat will be yours inshallah. A man from Najd with unkempt hair came to Allah's Messenger saws and we heard his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying, till he came near and then we came to know that he was asking about Islam.
Allah's Messenger saws said, "You have to offer prayers perfectly five times in a day and night 24 hours. I will neither do less nor more than this the obligatory duties!. So pondering upon the above, there is no sin on the person who does not perform the non-obligatory prayers sunnah or nawafil the only thing that can be said about this person is that they would be missing out on a great reward.
However, if it is found that the person is, in most cases, pre-occupied with the dhikr of Allaah and with following the Sunnah, and his affairs do not exceed the limits, but rather he is judicious and resolute in his affairs, then he should cling to him very firmly. Dhikr brings joy, happiness and relaxation in the heart of a person. It makes the heart calm and tranquil, just as Allaah [The Most High] said:.
Those who believe in the Oneness of Allah — Islamic Monotheism , and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.
Aayah 28]. And what it also means is that it has to be the case that nothing else can bring sound and everlasting tranquillity to the heart except remembrance of Allaah. If a person is deprived of remembrance of Alaah, his state is similar to a body that is deprived of its essential nourishment.
Protects from Shaytaan. Indeed, Dhikr [remembrance of Allaah] protects a person from shaytaan. Whoever leaves Dhikr, shaytaan will accompany him in that manner in which a person is accompanied by his shadow.
Aayah 36]. A person is not able to protect himself from shaytaan except through remembrance of Allaah and this one of the magnificent benefits of Dhikr. When a person remembers Allaah, Allaah remembers him. Allaah said: [ Therefore remember Me [through acts of obedience], I will remember you [by forgiving you ].
Aayah ]. Number ]. Dhikr] is the easiest act of worship. That is because moving the tongue is easier than moving the other limbs, for if the movement of the other limbs — day and night — was to be carried out in the same way as the movement of the tongue, a person will face great difficulty; rather he will not be able to do so, but still the reward of Dhikr [with the tongue] carries great good recompense and abundant reward.
Rewards like freeing number of slaves, one hundred good deeds added, hundred bad deeds wiped out, sins being forgiven even if they are as much as the foam of the sea, increase in the number of trees in Jannah and many more are amongst the great rewards from simple adhkaar, we will study about these and their ahadeeth in the upcoming classes In Sha Allah.
It is a light for the person in this Dunyah, in his grave and in the hereafter. It [i. There is nothing that illuminates the heart and the grave in a manner similar to Dhikr. The first person is a believer who is [given insight, clear guidance etc] through the light of Eemaan, love of Allaah, knowledge and awareness of Allaah and remembrance of Allaah. The second person is a heedless person who is heedless of Allaah, turns away from remembrance of Allaah and love of Allaah.
Whoever receives this from Allaah and the angels, then indeed he will be successful. Remember Allaah with much remembrance. He it is Who sends [blessings, forgiveness, praise and benevolence] on you, and His angels too [supplicate for you and ask Allaah to forgive you], that He may bring you out from darkness [of disbelief and polytheism] into light [of Belief and Islamic Monotheism].
